Birthday treat. Lunch @ Aqua Shard

The celebrations for my birthday seem to got a theme, a foodie theme (thanks Tom <3). Every year, I get treated with a special meal in one of London’s fanciest restaurants. Two years ago it was Harvey Nichols’ Brasserie at the Oxo Tower, last year Balan’s Soho Society, and this year, a meal with a view (and what a view!) at Aqua Shard.

What a treat for real! I’ve never been in the Shard before, and even if we didn’t go up to the top – the restaurant is half way on the 32nd floor – the view was absolutely stunning! Thanks London for holding on to the sun while we were there! (Obviously we paid for it on the way back. We got caught in a massive thunderstorm literally 3 minutes before arriving home!).

But lets get back to the food. I think that pictures are way better than words, so, here we go!

All this was accompanied by a bottle of marvellous Pinot Grigio Castel Firmian Mezzacorona, a white wine from my region, light and fruity with floral notes and a mild acidity. The perfect friend of these delicious courses!

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Aqua Shard, and I highly recommend it to you if you want to treat yourself with food, drinks and location!
